Problem Statement 15-2: "Monitor Invasive Lionfish (Pterois volitans and Pterois miles) in Western Atlantic and Caribbean"

Background:
The introduction of two species of predatory Indo-Pacific lionfish, Pterois volitans and P. miles into the Western Atlantic and Caribbean threatens fish populations and small-scale fisheries throughout the region. Lionfish are voracious feeders, limited only by gape. Removing the invasive lionfish is challenging,; they are found at a wide range of depths. In many regions, fishers are being encouraged to target lionfish as new fishery.

Problem Statement:
Mobile technology to monitor an invasive predator (i.e., Lionfish). Could hackers formulate a mobile technology used by fishers to track the progress of such projects and establishing better estimates of numbers, location and impact on other marine taxa?
